BUFFALO — The University at Buffalo cross country team competed in the MAC Championship on Saturday, and made an impression. The men finished with a team placement of third, while the women placed sixth. Leading the way for the Bulls were Stephanie Ward (13th) and Barrett Kemp (seventh).

The men had five runners nab a Top-30 spot. Barrett Kemp led the way with a 7th place finish, clocking in at 25:33.40 and averaging a 5:08.50 mile. Andrew Berge (16th) and Jack Jibb (17th) took spots in the Top-20 with times of 25:59.10 and 25:59.30, respectively. Justin Van Epps and Franklyn Pfeil joined their teammates in Top-30 finishes clocking in at 26:59.09 (25th) and 26:20.40 (30th), respectively. Kemp’s finish was enough to nab him an All-MAC First Team position.

Stephanie Ward is the highest placing freshman in Buffalo history at the MAC Championships. She clocked in at 21:44.40, enough for a 13th place finish, All-MAC Second Team, and Freshman of the Year performance. Joining Ward in a Top-30 finish was Morgan Mahoney. Mahoney clocked in at 22:01.90, a 22nd place finish. Rachel Barich just missed out on a Top-30 finish, coming in at 33rd with a time of 22:23.20.

The season isn’t over yet for the Bulls, as they travel to Bronx, NY on November 11th for the NCAA Northeast Regionals.
