Following a two-match split in New Jersey last weekenend, Canisius returns home for a pair of matches beginning with Siena on Saturday and Marist on Sunday. Both matches for the Griffs’ begin at 1 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN3.

Canisius’ attempt for revenge against Rider last Saturday was foiled, as the Broncs defeated Canisius 3-1. The Blue and Gold salvaged the weekend-split with a win over Saint Peter’s, defeating the Peacocks 3-1 in Jersey, City, N.J. The Griffs received a tremendous performance from Cassidy Ceriani on Sunday, as she recorded 10 kills, 30 assists and 12 digs to record the first triple-double by a Canisius player since 2004. Because of her efforts Cassidy Ceriani was named MAAC rookie of the week for the second time this season. On Saturday she also recorded a double-double with 38 and 12 digs.

Canisius is 6-14 overall this season, and has gone 4-7 in conference. Canisius senior Katlyn Tyler leads the Griffs offense with her 3.34 kills per set average, which ranks third in the MAAC. Freshman setter Cassidy Ceriani ranks fifth in the MAAC with her 8.00 assists per set. In the team’s win over Manhattan Oct. 8, Ceriani was credited with 61 assists, three assists shy of setting a program record. Cassidy Ceriani has been crowned the MAAC rookie of the week twice this season.

Following this weekend set the Blue and Gold have four more matches left in the season, with two more coming at home. Canisius prepares for its final homestand on Nov. 5 and 6, when the Blue and Gold hosts Fairfield and Quinnipiac. Both matches are set for 1 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN3. The Nov. 6 match will also serve as the team’s senior day as the squad honors the careers of Katlyn Tyler, Jacklyn Malusa and Gabrielle Vetere.
