The Canisius cross country program travels to the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla. Saturday morning to take part in the 2016 MAAC Cross Country Championships with the men running in the 8k event at 8 a.m. and the women running in the 6k event at 9 a.m.

The Griffs are coming off of a strong performance at the Canisius Alumni Classic two weekends ago, that saw the Griffs place first on the men’s side, while coming in second place in the women’s race.

Sophomore Siobhan Quinn took the women’s individual title with a time of 17:54.6 in the 5k event, while junior Carlin Sullivan also placed inside the top ten at 18:34.9.

Senior Brennan Root claimed the fifth spot for the men with a time of 25:02.9 in the men’s 8k event, while fellow senior Galen Snyder finished in 12th at 25:40.9.

The Griffs placed third in the men’s race and placed sixth in the women’s event at last year’s MAAC Championships. Quinn finished seventh overall in the 6k event with a time of 21:31.62, with Root being the fastest returning Griff, finishing 14 at 24:28.65.
