The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has announced Canisius men’s diver Travis Wright as the MAAC Men’s Diver of the Week for his performance at the 2016 University of Rochester Invite this past Saturday.

The men’s diving team finished with the top two slots in the one and three meter at Rochester, with Wright winning each event. Wright finished with a score of 355.70 in the one meter event, nearly 50 points higher than the second place competitor, while scoring 380.65 in the three meter, 80 points higher than the next closest diver.

Already qualifying or this year’s NCAA Zone Diving Championships, Wright became the first Canisius diver to place in both the one and three-meter diving events at the NCAA Zone A Championships in 2015-16. The top diver in eight of the 14 events he competed in during last season, the Derby, New York native earned MAAC Diver of the Year and Canisius Male Athlete of the Year accolades after he won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events at the MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships at the Flickinger Center last February.

Wright and the Griffs will host Geneseo in their home opening meet this Saturday at 12 p.m. from the Flickinger Center.
