BUFFALO — The Buffalo State swimming and diving teams kicked of its season with a dual meet win against Wells College this afternoon at Kissinger Pool.  The men won by a score of 184-65 while the women’s team took the meet, 153-85.

Alyssa Greymont broke the pool and school record by more than seven seconds in the 1000 free with a time of 10:57.77.  She also went on to win the 100 free with a time of 57.78, pacing the women’s side with two victories. Buffalo State produced strong relay teams on both the men’s and women’s side.  The Bengals women’s team of Greymont, Bri Chehovich, Kathryn Spychalski and Michelle Viera won the 200 medley relay (2:04.91).  The men’s 200 medley team of Cody Wittmeyer, Sam Alfonso, Connor Mergler and Ryan McHale won with a time of 1:46.60.

Tom DePasquale lead the men’s side, collecting two wins overall.  Depasquale won the 100 yard fly in 56.52 and the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:11.55. Wittmeyer also added two solo wins, taking first in the 100 yard free (50.33) and the 200 yard free (1:53.67). Tim Petranchuk was the winner of the men’s 1000 yard free with a time of 11:15.69. To recap the rest of the men’s wins, Mergler finished first in the 100 yard backstroke (55.01), Ryan McHale won the 50 yard backstroke (29.82), Dan Kuznetsov took first in the 50 yard freestyle and Jake Brigham took the 50 yard breaststroke (31.45).

Chehovich led the women’s team with two victories, collecting wins in the 500 yard freestyle (6:15.13) and the 50 yard breaststroke (35.88). Shannon Simmons won the 100 yard backstroke while Gina Ross-Detro won the women’s 100 yard breaststroke event. To recap the rest of the women’s team winners, Emma Leonard came in first in the 50 yard backstroke (34.50), Viera won the 200 yard free (2:18.27), Spychalski was the winner in the 100 yard butterfly (108.08), and  Kelly Lindner won the 50 yard freestyle (29.31).

Justin Moser finished first in the men’s one and three meter diving events.

Lindner also won the women’s one and three meter diving events, giving her three total victories on the day.

Buffalo State heads to Rochester to take on Monroe Community College for another dual meet set for Oct. 29 at 1 p.m.
