MIAMI — Up by 11 points in the 3rd quarter, the Buffalo Bills found themselves trailing as time expired in the game, dropping to the Miami Dolphins by a score of 28-25.

The difference was the offensive lines inability to stop the Dolphins defense from getting to quarterback Tyrod Taylor and the Bills’ defense’s inability to stop the always-running Jay Ajayi, who earned over 200 yards for the second straight game.

Injuries didn’t help as LeSean McCoy was mostly ineffective when he played — before leaving the game in the third quarter with a hamstring injury. Making matters worse, the Bills lost Aaron Williams to a head injury. Marcell Dareus’ and Robert Woods’ absences from the lineup was also felt.

That’s not to say the Bills didn’t have some bright spots, including a 67-yard touchdown pass from Tyrod Taylor to Marquise Goodwin midway through the third quarter, and a fake handoff that Taylor ran in for a touchdown. Lerentee McCray also blocked a punt, giving the Bills excellent field position in the 2nd quarter. Taylor later scored on that drive.

In the end, though Buffalo’s run defense was downright pourous, giving up the most rushing yards in a game this season. They surrendered 256 yards on the ground with Jay Ajayi doing the most damage. It was the most rushing yardage given up by the Bills since 2013.

The Bills return home to face another division opponent in the New England Patriots for a 1 pm kickoff on Sunday, Oct. 30th.
