BUFFALO — The University at Buffalo women’s soccer team (6-7-3, 3-4-1 MAC) aims to stay perfect at UB Stadium this season as they play host to the Eastern Michigan Eagles on Thursday night at 7:00 pm and the Central Michigan Chippewas on Sunday at noon. The Bulls have compiled an impressive 6-0-1 record at home this season while owning a 23-1-4 record on their home turf over the last three seasons.

UB will close out its regular season with three straight matches at UB Stadium after finishing up their road MAC schedule last weekend with a 0-1-1 record. The Bulls fell victim to the defending MAC champions, Western Michigan, on Friday afternoon despite scoring the first goal of the match. Carissima Cutrona netted the lone goal for UB as they fell 2-1 to the Broncos. On Sunday, the Bulls dominated the Northern Illinois Huskies but they couldn’t score the game-winner as the two teams played to the 0-0 scoreless draw. Laura Dougall added to her program record for shutouts in a career with her 26th as UB was able to earn the road point.

The Buffalo offense is continuing to be paced by redshirt sophomore forward Carissima Cutrona who has netted a career-best nine goals and one assist for 19 points so far this season while also leading the squad with four game-winners and 39 shots. Senior Andrea Niper has been solid from her holding midfield position all season long and has also produced two header goals while sophomore Nicole Gerritz has been playing at a high level as she has a career-high four helpers on the year.

UB’s backline of Angel Hart, Ashley Evans, Adrianna VanCuyck and Gurjeena Jandu has continued to improve as the season has drawn on as they have allowed 0.83 goals/game while limiting their opponents to 12 shots a match. Junior Laura Dougall has reaped the benefits of a strong defense in front of her all season long as she owns a 5-7-2 record to go along with a 0.78 goals-against average and five shutouts.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles enter Thursday night’s match with a 5-8-3 overall record and a 3-4-1 conference mark after going 1-0-1 this past weekend. The Eagles downed Ohio on Friday night 2-0 before playing Kent State to a scoreless draw on Sunday afternoon at home. The Eagles are now 3-0-1 in their last four MAC matches. Ellie Tillar leads the Eagles offense with four goals and three assists for 11 points while Sabrina McNeill has netted four goals and two assists for 10 points. Rachel Washburn and Chanel Vani each have notched three assists on the year as the Eagles offense is averaging just over a goal per match. In goal, Kaylin Williams has been solid as she owns a 5-8-3 record to go along with a 1.59 goals-against average and four clean sheets.

Central Michigan currently owns a 13-1-2 overall record to go along with a 5-1-2 conference mark after going 1-0-1 this past weekend. The Chippewas are currently 5-0-2 in their last seven MAC matches after dropping their MAC opener to Northern Illinois 4-0. The Chippewas are led offensively by the leading scorer in the conference, Alexis Pelafas, who has notched 15 goals and two assists for 31 points through 14 matches. Pelafas has also notched seven game-winners while taking 76 shots on the year. Jamie Rademacher has been solid as she has notched two goals and five helpers for nine points while Eliza Van de Kerkhove has two goals and four assists for eight points. In goal, Kristen Knutson owns a 13-1-2 record to go along with a 0.67 goals-against average and seven shutouts.

Prior to Sunday’s match, the UB women’s soccer program and the UB athletics department will be honoring seven seniors for all of their hard work and dedication to the program. The seven seniors that will be honored on Sunday are Cassie Betancourt, Isabella Borini, Ashley Evans, Dana Lytle, Angel Hart, Celina Carrero and Andrea Niper.

After this weekend, the Bulls will wrap up their regular season slate on Oct. 27 as they welcome the Akron Zips to UB Stadium for a noon match.
