As profiled by ABC News, Feibischoff watched from the window as other kids played games in the street. Eventually, he figured out a way to join them—by running on his hands. Over time he gained enough strength to use his legs, and he played soccer and wrestled in high school.
A graduate of Buffalo State’s communication program, Feibischoff has enjoyed a successful career as a TV sports producer and is currently a producer for ESPN. Throughout his career, his work has garnered seven Emmy awards.
Feibischoff will share his story of triumph and perseverance on Tuesday, October 18, at 12:15 p.m. in Bulger Communication Center, South. His talk, sponsored by the Communication Department, is free and open to the public.
“We chose to have Ed speak to our students because so many are interested in sports communication and broadcasting,” said Meg Knowles, associate professor of communication.
During his two-day visit to campus, Feibischoff will address communication students in two courses: Electronic News Reporting and Public Relations in Sports.
“Ed’s long career producing sports is very impressive. For his days at NBC working on NBA games and Olympic competitions, he was awarded both a Sports Emmy for Outstanding Live Sports Series and for Outstanding Live Sports Special in 2003,” said Knowles. “He was again a Sports Emmy nominee in 2008 for his work on the ABC/ESPN NBA series. He will inspire students who study journalism, broadcasting, public communication and athletics, as well as those who are sports fans.”
