The Canisius athletic department announced today that the Golden Griffins men’s and women’s basketball programs will have 32 games televised on the ESPN family of networks during the 2016-17 season, including 25 home games that will be produced by the athletic department’s digital media staff.

The Canisius men’s basketball team will play in three regular-season conference games on the ESPN family of networks and the women’s program will play long-time rival Niagara as part of the league’s broadcast package, which was also released by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Friday morning.

The annual Canisius-Niagara basketball doubleheader in the Koessler Athletic Center on Friday, Feb. 10 will be featured as part of the league’s broadcast agreement with the World Wide Leader in Sports. The women’s game, which is set to tipoff at 6 p.m., will be broadcast live on ESPN3, with the men’s game being broadcast live on either ESPNU or ESPN3. The decision on which network the long-time rivalry game will be shown on will be announced by the conference office 21 days in advance. The men’s game against Niagara is slated to tipoff at 9 p.m.

The men’s home contest with Rider Jan. 30 and the Golden Griffins’ return game at Rider Feb. 17 will be broadcast on ESPN3 as part of the league’s broadcast package. Tipoff for both of those games is set for 7 p.m.

The men’s team will have 12 home dates on ESPN3, starting with the 2016-17 home opener Nov. 21 against UT Martin. Counting road games, the men’s program is scheduled to play 18 games on an ESPN network, with two other contests (Dec. 17 vs. Buffalo at KeyBank Center and Jan. 2 vs. Siena) appearing on Time Warner Sports Network.

The Canisius women’s team will have 13 ESPN3 home games in 2016-17, starting with the team’s season-opener at home Nov. 13 against Northeastern.

Season tickets for the 28-game combined men and women’s home schedule can be purchased or renewed by calling the Canisius Ticket Office at (716) 888-TIXX between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, or by CLICKING HERE. Reserved seats cost $200, with general admission season tickets costing $150. Group ticket packages and mini-packs are also currently on sale, and single-game tickets will be available to the general public starting Friday, Oct. 21.
