BUFFALO — The University at Buffalo women’s soccer team (6-6-2, 3-3-0 MAC) will wrap up their three-match road swing this weekend as they travel to Western Michigan and Northern Illinois. The Bulls will take on the Broncos at 4 p.m. Friday at 4:00 and the Huskies at 2 p.m. Sunday.

After ripping off three straight Mid-American Conference victories in impressive fashion, the Bulls were handed a 1-0 loss at the hands of unbeaten Kent State. Despite outshooting the Golden Flashes 10-7 and outplaying them in the second half, the Bulls feel to 3-3-0 in MAC play.

The Buffalo offense is led by Williamsville native Carissima Cutrona who has netted a career-high eight goals and one assist for 17 points so far this season. The sophomore has been dynamic all season long as she has a career-best four game-winning goals and a team-high 33 shots on the year. Senior Andrea Niper has a pair of goals on the season while Moira Petrie and Celina Carrero each have a goal and two assists for four points. Nicole Gerritz and Ashley Evans are tied for the team-lead with three helpers apiece. In goal, Laura Dougall has been rock solid as the junior owns a 5-6-1 record to go along with a 0.76 goals-against average and four shutouts. Dougall owns the programs shutout record with 25 career clean sheets while ranking second in program history in wins with 31.

The UB defense has been stingy all season long as the Bulls are allowing under a goal against per game (12 goals in 14 matches) while holding opponents to just 12.3 shots a game. The backline of Angel Hart, Gurjeena Jandu, Ashley Evans and Adrianna VanCuyck have grown together over the last month of the season and have turned out to be one of the best quartets in the conference.

Western Michigan enters Friday’s match with an 8-6-0 overall record to go along with a 2-4-0 MAC mark after dropping a pair of conference matches last weekend to Ball State and Miami (OH). The Broncos had trouble scoring last weekend as they fell 2-0 at Ball State before dropping a 1-0 match at home to the RedHawks. The Broncos are led offensively by Mackenzie Barber who has netted a team-high four goals and assist for nine points while Liz Abro ranks second on the squad with three goals, two assists and eight points. Sophomore forward Alyssa Burke has started all 14 matches and leads the team with five helpers on the year. Between the pipes, junior Stephanie Heber has started 12 matches and owns a 7-3-0 record to go along with a 1.07 goals-against average and five shutouts.

The Huskies currently own a 4-7-2 overall record to go along with a 3-3-0 MAC mark after dropping a pair of conference matches last weekend to Ball State and Miami (OH). The Huskies didn’t record a goal as they dropped a pair of 2-0 contests. The Huskies offense is paced by sophomore forward Taylor Sarver who has started all 13 matches and has notched a team-high six goals and one assist for 13 points. Abby Gregg has netted a pair of goals off the bench while Natalie Yass, Kelsey Chope and Sammy O’Brien have each recorded two assists. In goal, Amy Annala has started 12 matches and owns a 4-4-2 record to go along with a 1.13 goals-against average and four shutouts.

After this weekend road trip, the Bulls will return to UB Stadium for their final three matches of the 2016 regular season as they will host Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan and Akron. The Bulls have been perfect at home this season (6-0-1) and nearly perfect at UB Stadium over the past three seasons, amassing a home record of 23-1-4 since head coach Shawn Burke took over the reins of the program.
