Buffalo State’s Tianna Hatch (Endicott/Elmira Free Academy) and Taylor Carillo (Pine Bush/Pine Bush) swept the SUNYAC women’s soccer awards this week, with Hatch being awarded Offensive Athlete of the Week while Carillo took home Defensive Athlete of the Week honors.
Hatch, a junior forward, netted three goals in three more Buffalo State victories this past week. She scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Allegheny on Tuesday, and tallied both goals in a 2-0 win over Oswego on Friday. She also had one shot in Saturday’s 1-0 victory against Cortland.
Freshman keeper Carillo added three more shutouts this week to push her school record streak to seven games and her scoreless-streak to 709 minutes and 55 seconds. Carillo made one save in a 1-0 win over Allegheny, two saves in a 2-0 victory over Oswego, and four saves in a 1-0 win against Cortland.
It is the second time this season that Carillo has won the award.
The Bengals are 10-1-2 (5-0-0 SUNYAC) on the year, sit in first place in the SUNYAC and were just ranked the No. 23 team in the nation by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America National Poll.
