Quinnipiac scored three times in the game’s second half and the Bobcats defense held Canisius to a season-low three shots, as Quinnipiac posted a 3-0 win over the Golden Griffins in MAAC action Saturday at QU Soccer Field. Quinnipiac moves to 8-4-1, 4-2-0 in the MAAC, while the Griffs fall to 5-6-0 overall and 3-2-0 in conference play.

After playing a scoreless first half, Quinnipiac got on the board first with a goal in the game’s 56th minute after Bobcats’ sophomore forward Alex Pelletier recorded her third goal of the season off an assist from senior teammate Jess Fontaine. The Bobcats added another just under thirty seconds later as Fontaine assisted on the goal, this time it was sophomore forward Gil Nadya, her sixth of the year.  Quinnipiac closed out the scoring two minutes later, in the 58th minute, as sophomore midfielder Madison Borowiec put the ball in the net for her second goal of the season.

Quinnipiac outshot Canisius 16-3 and the Bobcats had 12 corner kicks against the Griffs’ one. Quinnipiac freshman goalkeeper Olivia Myszewski made two stops en route to the shutout win, while Canisius freshman goalkeeper Alana Rossi made four saves in 71:31 minutes of action.

Canisius will stay on the road as they travel to Marist on Wednesday for an afternoon contest. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
