The Canisius College women’s soccer team will travel to Hamden, Conn. to face Quinnipiac Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

Canisius knocked off Manhattan on Oct. 1, 1-0. The Griffs have won two out of their last three games.  Freshman goalkeeper Alana Rossi is third in the MAAC in shutouts with three. It is the first time since 2011 that the Griffs have started 3-1 in their first four MAAC games. This is only the third time in program history that the squad has accomplished this feat.

Canisius freshman Gretta Dry was named MAAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after she recorded two goals and one assist in the Griffs’ two MAAC wins. Dry’s broke a scoreless tie in the 54th minute as the Golden Griffins defeated Niagara 4-0 in a Battle of the Bridge contest Sept. 28. The next game, at home versus Manhattan, Dry’s penalty kick in the 57th minute was the difference as the Griffs won 1-0. Dry has 14 points this season, which leads the team. She also leads the team in goals (5) and is tied for first in assists (4) with junior Maddie Good.

The battle between the Griffs and Bobcats will be the sixth in program history. The two teams first squared off in 2008, with Quinnipiac defeating the Griffs 1-0.  Canisius is 2-2-1 lifetime versus Quinnipiac, with the Bobcats upending the Griffs last season, 3-0.
