BUFFALO — Junior midfielder Moira Petrie and junior goalkeeper Joseph Kuta were named UB’s Athletes of the Week.
Petrie had a great weekend for the Bulls as she finished with four shots, three shots on goal, a goal and assist for three points while leading the Bulls to a perfect 2-0 weekend. Petrie played a great game in the central midfield on Friday night as she was able to collect an assist on UB’s game-winning goal, her career-high second assist of the season. On Sunday, Petrie was all over the field as she led the team with three shots on goal while also recording her first career goal, the game-winner. Petrie ripped a shot from 20 yards out that went over the head of the lunging keeper and into the corner of the net. The junior now has a career-high four points on the year while ranking fourth on the squad with 17 shots. Petrie also helped UB improve to 5-0-1 at UB Stadium on the year.
Kuta got back on track on Saturday night on the road against a very tough Duquesne team as he was able to earn his career-high seventh shutout of the season as UB battle the Dukes to a 0-0 draw. Kuta finished off his impressive match with five saves, a number of which were on dangerous opportunities. The junior has been rock solid between the pipes for the Bulls this year as he owns a 8-2-1 record to go along with a 0.71 goals-against average, .822 save percentage and seven clean sheets.
