BUFFALO — Coming off her best performance of the season, University at Buffalo junior Cassie Shado has been named the Mid-American Conference East Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.  Shado becomes the first UB player honored this season.

Shado led the UB offense, hitting .519 over Buffalo’s two matches this past weekend.  On Thursday night in the 3-2 win at Akron, the Indianapolis, IN native finished with a career-high 22 kills and just one error on 31 swings, hitting .677 on the evening.  She added nine kills against Ball State.  In addition, Shado had seven total blocks over the two matches.

Shado leads the Bulls in hitting percentage at .392, which is currently 33rd nationally, and her 114 kills are second on the team as well as her 51 blocks.

Shado and the Bulls will remain home this weekend when they host Miami (OH) at 6 p.m. Friday.
