SPRINGVILLE — The Canisius College golf team returns to the course Wednesday, when the Golden Griffins take part in the annual Little Three Championship at Springville Country Club.

Canisius enters Wednesday’s event having won five of the last six Little Three Championships. The team crown in 2015 was the program’s 12th team title since the event started in 1952. The individual winner of the Little Three Championship earns an automatic berth into the 2017 Porter Cup. Former Griff Hunter Sagar won the individual medlaist honors in 2014.

This marks the 63rd playing of the Little Three Championship, which features Canisius, Niagara and St. Bonaventure. According the records, this marks the first time Springville Country Club has hosted the Little Three. Springville Country Club is the seventh new course to host the Little Three since 2000. St. Bonaventure has won the team title a record 38 times in the history of the event, with its most recent championship coming at the 2013 tournament.
