BUFFALO — The cross country teams are ready to travel to Bethlehem, PA for the 43rd annual Lehigh Paul Short Invitational this Saturday, October 1st. This event takes top runners in Division I, II, and III from across the nation that are regionally and nationally ranked and pits them against each other. Last year, the Bulls ran to two Top-10 finishes as a team.

The event lasts most of the day Friday, with the men’s and women’s gold and open races. The Top-10 runners from each team will compete in the gold race, while the remaining will compete in the open race. The men will be running an 8K and the women will be running a 6K.

Last year, the men were able to take home a fourth place finish overall in the gold race, with three runners placing in the Top-30. Jack Jibb, Andrew Berge, and Barrett Kemp were able to seal off 26th, 27th, and 28th place finishes, respectively. The women were also able to take a Top-10 finish, placing eighth overall. Chardae Henry led the way for the Bulls with a 38th place finish.

The Bulls are looking strong this year, with more depth than they have ever seen. They have had success from everyone over the past couple weeks, with two men PR-ing in the last race by over 50 seconds. The Bulls saw success at the UB Stampede with the men coming in fourth and the women coming in second overall. Andrew Berge led the way for the men, placing fourth overall as an individual. Joining him was Franklyn Pfeil who nabbed a 12th place finish. The women saw success from seven Bulls who placed in the Top-15. On top again was freshman Stephanie Ward. Ward took home a second place finish overall, beating third place by nearly 14 seconds. Joining Ward in the top-15 were Rachel Barich (sixth), Morgan Mahoney (eighth), Corinne Birchard (11th), Sylvia Russell (12th), Meagan Hopkins (14th), and Charlotte Molloy (15th).

The race is set to begin with the men at 11:00 am, and the women at 11:45am. Results will be posted throughout the day here.
