STEAMBURG — A citizen’s tip that someone was drinking beer in their vehicle at a rest stop ended with that vehicle’s driver charged with DWI.

According to New York State Police, Troopers responded to the citizen’s report around 6 p.m. Tuesday from the Ellery Rest Area. Troopers eventually caught up with 43-year-old Scott Clawges of Lewis Run, Pa., who they determined to be intoxicated.

Clawges was taken to SP Jamestown and found to have a .13 percent blood alcohol content. He was then processed, issued tickets returnable to the Town of Coldspring Court and released.

Clawges is scheduled to appear in the Town of Coldspring Court later in the month to answer the charge.
