LEWISTON — The New York Power Authority will host on Wednesday a first responders training at the Niagara Power Project.

NYPA security and staff will work with the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department Emergency Response Team on this exercise, which will run from 5-10 p.m. and involve deputies in full tactical gear and SWAT vehicles.

The deputies will respond to the Power Project for two active shooter scenarios. Additional people will act as victims and be treated on scene. Areas that will be used include the South Access Road leading to the Robert Moses Power Plant and the nearby fishing pier.

As this is active-shooter training, nearby residents and passers-by may hear the sound of blank gunfire.
