The Canisius volleyball team fell to the Siena Saints on Sunday afternoon, as the squad lost in straight-sets (25-14, 25-19, 25-20), in Loudonville, N.Y. With the loss the Griffs drop to 2-9 and 0-2 in conference action, while the Saints improve to 3-9 overall and 2-0 in MAAC play.

The Saints stormed out of the gate and took the first two sets with scores of 25-14 and 25-19, respectively.

In the third set, the Griffs opened up a 14-11 advatnage looking to try and stay alive in the match. However the Saints took over from there, going on a 14-6 run to end the frame with the 25-20 win and the 3-0 victory.

Katlyn Tyler led the way on offense for Canisius, recording 14 kills and a .237 hitting percentage. Cassidy Ceriani paced the team with 27 assists and chipped in seven digs, while Tyler recorded nine digs for the team lead.

The Saints had a pair of players record double-figure kills, with Briana Flagg recording the most, with 16. Sonja Vasovic was the other Siena player to notch double-figure kills, finishing the match with 10. Haley Howell paced the team with 38 assists, while Kalehua Kategiri had 14 digs for the team-lead.

The Griffs head home for its home-opening weekend on Saturday and Sunday, as the squad welcomes Saint Peter’s and Rider. Both matches are slated for 1 p.m.
