OLEAN — A 31-year-old Olean man was charged Sunday with third-degree burglary, accused of stealing a dog from the Olean SPCA on State Route 16.
According to New York State Police, the SPCA had reported the dog lost on Friday. A subsequent investigation determined Stephen J. Schindlbeck broke into the SPCA after hours and stole the dog, leash and dog food. Schindlbeck was arrested and transported to SP Olean. The dog has been recovered and is in good health.
Schindlbeck was arraigned in Town of Allegany and remanded to the Cattaraugus County Jail without bail.
