There is little change in gas prices across the region and across New York State this week. The national average price for regular unleaded gasoline is now $2.21 per gallon, up three cents from last week. The New York State average is $2.32 per gallon, no change over the last two weeks. A year ago, the NYS average was $2.50.

AAA Western and Central New York (AAA WCNY) reports no change in prices in Buffalo at $2.27 per gallon and a one-cent drop in Rochester at $2.26.

The national increase in prices is due to a broken pipeline in Alabama, which caused outages in many areas. Some gas stations down south were completely out of gas. The pipeline is one of two major pipelines that send gas from Texas to New York. The rupture caused a complete shutdown, which disrupted fuel shipments.
