FREDONIA — Tristan Myers (Rochester/Webster Thomas) exploded for three goals to lead Buffalo State to a convincing 4-1 victory over Baldwin Wallace this afternoon in the opening game of the Fredonia Blue Devil/Clarion Hotel Classic.

Myers, who had scored two goals in his previous 39 career games for the Bengals, struck three times today on seven shots, opening the scoring in the 20th minute with an assist from Danny Clavin (Holtsville/Sachem East).

Baldwin Wallace evened the score in the 44th minute, but Bass Sarr (New York/JREC) reclaimed the lead for the Bengals with just 17 seconds remaining in the half on a penalty kick for his third goal of the season. Myers added his second of the game in the 55th minute and then completed the scoring with a penalty kick marker of his own in the 65th minute.

The Bengals finished with a 16-13 advantage in shots and a 6-1 edge in corner kicks. William Banahene (Rochester/Brighton) made six saves in goal for Buffalo State.

Buffalo State will wrap up the Fredonia Classic against Houghton at 2 p.m. Saturday.  The game was moved from 4:30 p.m. due to impending storms.
