STATESBORO, Ga. – The University at Buffalo volleyball team continues its season-opening road trip this weekend as the Bulls head to Georgia Southern for the Springhill Suites Invitational.  UB will also face South Carolina of the SEC and Wake Forest of the ACC.

Buffalo is looking for its first victory of the season, but has had several solid individual performances.  Freshman setter Scout McLerran became the fourth player in school history to have a 50-assist/20-dig match, while fellow freshman Hannah Watson had 37 digs against St. Francis (PA), the second highest digging total in the country this season.

The Bulls will open the tournament at Noon on Friday against the host Georgia Southern Eagles, who are 4-4 on the season.  UB assistant coach Scott Smith is a former assistant coach at Georgia Southern.  The Eagles are led by Katie Bange, who has 79 kills on the year and is hitting .306.  Alex Beecher leads Georgia Southern with 127 digs.

UB will then move on to play South Carolina on Friday at 5:00 pm. The Gamecocks are a perfect 6-0 on the season following a 3-1 win over rival Clemson on Sunday. Mikayla Shields leads USC with 60 kills and a .350 hitting percentage.

Wake Forest is 1-3 on the year following a 3-2 loss to Loyola.  Kylie Long leads the Demon Deacons with 82 kills and Caroline Wolf has a team-high 69 digs.
