NIAGARA UNIV. — Niagara University lacrosse head coach Wendy Stone released the team’s 2016 fall schedule, highlighted by six appearances against local opponents. The fall slate includes two dates at Niagara Field.

“We face a challenging slate of opponents this fall that will help us gain valuable playing experience heading into the spring season,” Stone said. “We look forward to getting back on the field together as a group, and working to get better every day.”

After an intrasquad Purple vs. White scrimmage on Sept. 17, Niagara heads to downtown Buffalo for a playday event at Canisius College on Sept. 19. The all-day scrimmage event will give Niagara the chance to play against St. Bonaventure, Canisius, and Monroe Community College. The Purple Eagles return to Canisius to play the Golden Griffins Sept. 24 at 10 a.m.

In October, Niagara will attend playday events at Syracuse and Le Moyne before hosting a playday with Binghamton, Canisius, and Central Michigan on Oct. 22. The Purple Eagles will play Canisius at 10 a.m., Central Michigan at 10:30 a.m., and Binghamton at 2:30 p.m. The afternoon concludes with Niagara’s annual alumni game, which is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.

The Purple Eagles lacrosse team recorded the second-most wins in a season in program history in 2016, finishing the regular season at 9-8 before falling to Fairfield in the first round of the MAAC Championship. Niagara also posted its first-ever five-win season in MAAC play. Niagara returns 2016 Second-Team All-MAAC honorees Caroline Crump, Andrea Francisco, and Alexandra Higgins, MAAC All-Rookie Team member Alexis Morales, and 2016 Preseason All-MAAC defender Kara Martin.
