BUFFALO — A 33-year-old Cheektowaga man who was convicted of violating supervised release, was sentenced to 12 months in prison and four years of additional supervised release.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron J. Mango, who handled the case, stated that Justin Jeffrey Amato was on supervised release with the U.S. Probation Department following a 2011 conviction for possession of child pornography. During this term of supervised release, Amato was ordered not to have deliberate contact with any child under 18 years of age. On August 10, 2016, the defendant was convicted of violating that release for having frequent contact with a two year-old minor child. Amato also visited two separate public facilities that feature activities for children.
The sentencing is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Adam S. Cohen and the U.S. Probation Department, under the direction of Anthony SanGiacomo.
