GERRY — A 19-year-old Jamestown man was charged earlier today with driving while ability impaired by drugs following a traffic stop on Route 60.

According to New York State Police, Dalton Gifford was pulled over on Route 60 for traffic violations. While speaking to Gifford, the Troopers smelled marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. Gifford displayed signs of being impaired by marijuana and was placed under arrest after failing multiple standard field sobriety tests. A teenage passenger was arrested for possessing a marijuana cigarette and released with an appearance ticket.

At SP Jamestown, a Chautauqua County Drug Recognition Expert preformed an evaluation on Gifford and determined he was under the influence of marijuana. He was processed, issued tickets returnable to the Town of Gerry Court, and released with orders to appear in the Town of Gerry Court next month to answer the charge.
