LOCKPORT — A 62-year-old Newfane man was charged Wednesday with fourth-degree welfare fraud, fourth-degree grand larceny and three counts of offering a false instrument for filing, accused of receiving welfare benefits he wasn’t entitled to.
According to Niagara County Sheriff Jim Voutour, Raymond Swanson had received approximately $5,500 in benefits he wasn’t entitled to between January 2014 and May 2016. Swanson had allegedly not disclosed a source of income to social services.
Swanson was issued appearance tickets on above charges and was ordered to appear in Lockport City Court on Monday.
