OLCOTT — The Niagara County Department of Health has temporarily closed Olcott Beach to swimmers due to bacteria levels found in recent testing.

While the beach itself is open, swimming is prohibited until further notice.

The health department test beaches and bathing areas within Niagara County weekly throughout the summer to determine if the water quality can cause a health risk.

All other area beaches received clean bills of health.
