Charges were filed against four separate drivers and a passenger during traffic stops over the course of about eight hours Wednesday night and this morning, according to Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard.

Around 6:35 p.m., Wednesday, on Genesee Road in Concord, a 22-year-old Forestville man was charged with DWI-Drugs, criminal possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance in a non-original container. Deputies had stopped Scott Schober for driving erratically and determined him to be impaired, leading to the DWI-Drugs charge. A subsequent search resulted in the other charges. Schober was turned over to a family member.

In Springville at around 10:45 p.m., Wednesday, 24-year-old Todd Jalowiec was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana following a West Main Street traffic stop. Jalowiec was also issued a ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign.

At 12:30 a.m., a 19-year-old Niagara Falls man and a 19-year-old Grand Island man were both charged with unlawful possession of marijuana following a traffic stop on Whitehaven Road on Grand Island. The vehicle was stopped for not having proper lighting. An ECSO K9 searched the vehicle and found a smoking pipe, a jar of marijuana, and a container filled with multiple glass smoking pipes in the vehicle. Subsequently, Joseph Alkhatib and Justin Graesser were charged and then released on appearance tickets.

Also on Grand Island, around 2:43 a.m., a 36-year-old Collins man was stopped on the 190 for vehicle and traffic violations and found to be carrying a plastic container of marijuana. Brian Barrett was charged and ultimately released on traffic and appearance tickets.
