BUFFALO — Buffalo Police broke the window of a car Tuesday evening to rescue a pair of small children locked inside.
According to BPD, officers were called to East Amherst and Holden streets around 5 p.m. because two kids young children had accidentally been locked in a car with the keys of the car’s operator while at a gas station.
“Due to the extreme heat, when officers arrived on scene they were forced to take immediate action. Northeast District Officer Peter Nguyen used his baton to break open a window and the officers quickly removed the two young children,” according to BPD. “Officer James Hall, Jr., immediately began to administer first aid to one of the children who appeared to be going in and out of consciousness.”
The child was then brought into the gas station, where Officer Hall quickly took steps to reduce her temperature. Buffalo fire and paramedics soon arrived and assisted in transporting the two children to Women and Children’s Hospital for precautionary reasons.
