NORTH TONAWANDA — North Tonawanda firefighters are on scene at a structure of at an Oliver Street home — reportedly the home of a member of their own department who had recently received a racially-tinged threat.
According to Niagara County Fire Wire, Engines 6 and 4, as well as Truck 1, was called to 10:96 Oliver Street around 12:42 p.m.
That is the home of volunteer firefighter Kenneth Walker, who had received a threatening letter on Monday saying he should resign from Gratwick Hose by the end of the week or he would “regret it.” The letter used a racial epithet beginning with the letter N.
UPDATE: Walker, his wife and two children who live in the home were not hurt in the fire, however two family cats were killed.
