BUFFALO — A 42-year-old Buffalo woman was arraigned on an indictment charging her with second-degree murder and second-degree assault.

According to Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Flaherty, Jr., Veronica Reynolds fatally stabbed her boyfriend, 59-year-old Brian Smith in his apartment on Mohr Street in Buffalo on July 6. During the deadly attack, Smith’s brother, Timothy Washington attempted to intervene and was stabbed in the leg by Reynolds. He is recovering from his injury.

The case has been assigned to Erie County Court Judge Sheila A. DiTullio and a court date has not yet been set.

Reynolds pleaded not guilty and was remanded to jail without bail.
