APPLETON — The Winery at Marjim Manor’s next murder mystery offers a new take on some familiar characters, weaving a fairy political story during a four-course meal paired with with four wines.

“I’m Not Afraid of Virginia Wolff” will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 6 at the winery, 7171 East Lake Road. Tickets are $70 per person or $65 per person in groups of four or more.

The meal will serve as a rare meeting of the Storybook Characters Union, held only once per decade. This year, President Buddy Hatchett is up for re-election. However, he’s being opposed by Vice President Virginia Wolff — much to the chagrin of her husband Bayo, also known as Little Blue Riding Hood (necessary for the story since Little Red Riding Hood ran away with Jack Be Nimble. Other union members include Grandma Marian, organization secretary, as well as the three little pigs: Ginny Pigg, Bo Pigg, and the recently married Rhoda Hogg.

As this is a murder mystery, expect one of the characters to get axed early on — and one of the other characters did it, of course.

In addition to the dinner and theater, guests receive a keepsake wine glass. And at the conclusion , a drawing will be held for prizes of those who guessed the culprit behind the murder.
