The Buffalo Bisons saw their losing streak continue as they were downed twice by the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders at PNC Field in doubleheader action on Tuesday.

Game One:

It took an unusual play in a bonus inning for the RailRiders to earn their sixth walk-off win of the year as they took game one by a score of 3-2.

With one out in the home-half of the eighth, Gary Sanchez drove a fly ball off of the base of the wall in left-center field for his second double of the game.

The very next offering from Dustin Antolin, who had punched out three of the first four batters he faced, bounced in the dirt and got away from catcher Wilkin Castillo. With Sanchez heading for third, Castillo scampered to the ball and, in an attempt to hurry his throw, fired it wide.

Matt Dominguez lunged to his left but had the ball go off the top of his glove and could only watch as Scranton/Wilkes-Barre’s catcher crossed home for the winning run.

Chris Leroux held the league’s top offense to a pair of runs in his 18th start of the year. The 6-foot-6 righty was only charged with one run on five hits, allowing two walks while striking out one RailRider across six innings.

In his Triple-A debut, Vincente Campos effectively spread eight Bisons’ hits around five innings of work. Limiting the Herd to only singles, the 23-year-old Venezuelan allowed one run and left the game with a 2-1 advantage.

Buffalo tied the game in the sixth as back-to-back singles and a wild pitch put Domonic Brown and Dominguez in scoring position with one out.

Andy Burns then drove a ball deep enough to center for the game-tying sac fly, plating Brown from third.

Brown and David Adams each had a pair of hits and scored in the loss.

Game Two:

RailRiders’ starter Luis Cessa was in full control of game two.

The hard-throwing righty fired seven scoreless innings for the 3-0 victory in the night cap. Cessa struck out four batters while hitting the mid 90’s on the radar gun to improve Scranton/Wilkes-Barres’ record to 6-0 in doubleheader action this season.

In their ninth shutout of the 2016, the Bisons’ offense managed only four singles throughout the seven-inning affair.

In his team-leading 20th start of the season, Scott Diamond was touched for three runs in the first inning but settled down to go a full five frames.

Mason Williams started the bottom half of the first with a double and moved to third as third baseman Matt Dominguez bobbled a sac bunt attempt. The hot-hitting Gary Sanchez plated Williams with a hard grounder through the left side of the infield. After a walk, Donovan Solano bounced a ball up the middle to cash in both Diaz and Sanchez, making it a 3-0 game.

The Canuck struck out a couple of RailRiders and issued one walk in the loss, bringing his record to 6-10.

Matt Dermody came on in relief for the Herd and hurled a 1-2-3 sixth inning.

BISONS NOTES:
Domonic Brown’s second-inning single in game one extended his hitting streak to 11 games. The right fielder then pushed the trend to 12 with a single in his final at-bat of game two…Scott Diamond remains a victim of poor run support. Buffalo has only scored 46 runs over his 20 starts…After four appearances with the Herd, Matt Dermody is yet to allow a run…BlueJays’ infielder Ryan Goins went 2-for-3 in game two and is now batting .286 over nine rehab games…The Bisons fall back to .500 for the first time since May 22nd when they were 22-22.
