PAWTUCKET, RI – Adam Brett Walker and Byungho Park hit back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning to give Rochester its first lead of the night but Pawtucket countered with four runs in the bottom half as the Red Sox topped the Red Wings 7-5 Monday night at McCoy Stadium.

The Red Wings (60-44) trailed 3-1 entering the frame before Walker hit a rocket line drive two-run homer with two outs to tie the game at three. Park followed with a high, opposite field homer to give Rochester its first lead. Both home runs came against Red Sox (52-51) starter Justin Haley (4-3). The Wings only other offense up until that point was a Walker RBI double in the fourth.

Nick Greenwood made his second straight start for Rochester in place of the injured Logan Darnell, who was placed on the disabled list earlier in the day. Rusney Castillo started the bottom of the first with a lead off double and later scored to give Pawtucket a 1-0 lead. The PawSox added to their advantage in the third as Marco Hernandez singled, Chris Marrero doubled him in and Christian Vasquez followed with an RBI single to make it 3-0. All of this happened after a two-out, nobody on situation.

With the Red Wings leading 4-3 after the top of the sixth, Greenwood departed in favor of D.J. Baxdendale (2-1). Greenwood was charged for three runs on seven hits with three strikeouts over 5.0 innings. Pawtucket started the sixth with three straight hits – a double, and two straight singles – to tie the game. A throwing error on a fielder’s choice attempt gave the Red Sox the lead again. Baxdendale departed without recording an out as he was charged with four runs – two earned – on three hits. Marcus Walden took over and allowed both inherited runners to score on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly and the PawSox led 7-4.

Rochester would not go quietly in the ninth as Park doubled to open the inning, advanced to third on a ground out and scored on Wifredo Tovar’s one-out single to cap the scoring at 7-5. Pat Light took over on the mound for Pawtucket and retired the final two batters to end the game and earn his seventh save.

Walker finished 2-for-3 with a double, a homer, a walk and three RBI. Park was 2-for-4 with a double, a homer and two runs scored.
