ORCHARD PARK — The Buffalo Bills will be short a ball carrier for the first four weeks of the season due to a league-imposed suspension against running back Karlos Williams.

Williams was served with a four-game suspension for violation of the league’s substance abuse policy by the NFL. He will be eligible to return to the Bills’ active roster on Oct. 3, following the team’s Oct. 2 game against the New England Patriots.

He is eligible to participate in all-offseason and preseason practices and games, including Bills training camp.

Williams tied for the team lead last season in touchdowns with nine.
