BUFFALO — Limber up your stein-hoisting arm, unpack those lederhosen or grab your dirndl from the drycleaners, because the WURST party in Buffalo is Sunday and everyone is invited.

The German-American Musicians Association hosts WURSTFest 2016, the annual salute to sausage, beer and Gemütlichkeit Sunday at RiverFest Park. The Wurstfest Facebook page offers this explanation of Gemütlichkeit :

Gemütlichkeit is the German concept of a space or situation that is warm and cozy, that induces a cheerful mood and peace of mind, without a need to hurry or worry, coupled with a connotation of belonging and social acceptance.

Representatives of Warsteiner Brewing will be on hand with the tapping of kegs of Red Bock Beer, a limited batch beer, not available commercially and not to be missed. Warsteiner also sponsors the Stein Hoist competition, providing what are promised to be “fabulous prizes” to the mightiest hoisters of the traditional tankards.

Spiff up your wardrobe as well, because a $300 gift certificate to Bavarian Specialties, LLC will go to the Best Dressed Bavarian.

The WURST festivities begin at 1 p.m., events get underway at 3 p.m. and the revelry runs through at 8 p.m. at RiverFest Park, on Ohio Street near Michigan, downtown.
