
BUFFALO — A 50-year-old Evans woman was arraigned on Tuesday, indicted on several charges stemming from a 2013 crash that resulted in a man’s death.
Gabriele Ballowe was charged with first-degree vehicle manslaughter, second-degree vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene of an incident without reporting resulting in death, and leaving the scene of an incident without reporting resulting in serious physical injury. It is alleged that on December 22, 2013, Ballowe was driving intoxicated on Route 5 in Evans when she struck and killed 52-year-old Barry Moss of Evans and fled the scene.
Ballowe pleaded not guilty on Tuesday and was held on $50,000 bail. She faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted of the charges.
An Angola woman is also facing charges from the same case.
Lynne Laettner, 55, was indicted on charges of first-degree perjury, accused of providing false testimony in front of an Erie County Grand Jury regarding the death of Barry Moss.
She also pleaded not guilty and was held on $10,000 bail. She faces up to seven years in prison if convicted of the charges.
