TOWN OF LOCKPORT — Eleven Niagara County residents were arrested Wednesday and Thursday, charged with various crimes related to welfare fraud.

Arrested from the City of Niagara Falls were:

  • Lydia Truesdell, 39, for Making a Punishable False Written Statement and Misuse of Food Stamps.
  • Brian Schmiege, 29, for Sale or Exchange of Assistance Supplies and Making a Punishable False Written Statement.
  • Tim Burbee, 39, for Grand Larceny 4th degree, Welfare Fraud 4th degree, and Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st.
  • Mark Spencer, 55, for Petit Larceny and Offering a False Instrument for Filing 2nd degree.
  • Charnay Taylor, 32, for Offering a False Instrument for Filing 2nd degree and Welfare Fraud 5th degree.
  • Calvin Reed, 51, for Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st degree, and Welfare Fraud 5th degree.
  • Alicia Sager, 41, for Grand Larceny 4th degree, Welfare Fraud 4th degree, and Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st.
  • Robert Guy, 43, for Misuse of Food Stamps.
  • Shenkayla Hollifield, 32, for Petit Larceny, Welfare Fraud 5th degree, and Offering a False Instrument for Filing 2nd.

From the City of Lockport:

  • Pedro Santiago,37, for Petit Larceny, Welfare Fraud 5th degree, and Offering a False Instrument for Filing 2nd .

From Gasport:

  • Crystal Colin, 34, Offering a False Instrument for Filing 2nd.

Criminal investigations were initiated by the Niagara County Department of Social Services, the Niagara County District Attorney’s Office and the Niagara County Sheriff’s Welfare Fraud Division.

All were released on appearance tickets with return court dates in their respective jurisdictions. Investigations are continuing and arrests pending on several other individuals.
