Concurrent with the Allentown Art Festival runs the Allen West Festival, sponsored by the Allentown Association.

More than 150 vendors will line the west end of Allen up through Wadsworth, between Elmwood Ave and Hudson, and will stay open slightly later than their contiguous counterparts: Allen West runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and tomorrow.

Per the Allentown Neighbor Newsletter, the festival is the largest annual fundraiser for the Allentown Association, raising more than $20,000 last year, despite inclement weather on both festival days.

The festival is designed to promote Allentown artisans and businesses, with the participation of
artists, vendors, restaurants and local businesses.

One of the anchors of Allen is Nietzsche’s, which is hosting the Allentown Music Festival contemporaneous with the Art Festivals.

Like the website says, take in two days of “kickass music for just $2 a day.” From 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. today, and 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow, the line up includes acts such as Randle and the Late Night Scandals, The Meat Whistles, Folkfaces, and Volver.

Take the time to check out the weekend art scene from a little West of center. After all, you can always duck into the Old Pink and grab the best steak sandwich in Buffalo along with a Boddington’s while you are down there. Win-win.
