BUFFALO — Buffalo Narcotics Squad members conducted a raid on West Avenue Thursday night, where they reported to have found evidence of a crystal methamphetamine operation.

A 33-year-old Amherst man was charged with various drug charges after the area was secured when narcotics detectives discovered the target of their investigation in the garage in the 800 block of West Avenue, around 4:30 p.m. Thursday. During the execution of the search warrant, police say they discovered not only the crystal meth batch, but one and a half pounds of marijuana and crack cocaine.

Thomas J. Eisenberger Jr. was charged with unlawfully possessing methamphetamine — a felony — plus criminal possession of marijuana, and criminal possession of controlled substances.

Buffalo police secured the immediate area, and Buffalo Fire Department’s Hazardous Material Crew responded to the scene, as well. The state police clandestine lab unit was called in to assist, and dispose of the methamphetamine laboratory.

Additionally, Buffalo police had the Erie County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad respond to the scene, when three suspicious sticks were discovered, looking very much like explosives. Those items were turned over to the sheriff’s office, for disposal, and not believed to have been explosive.
