BUFFALO — A 64-year-old Buffalo woman was charged Thursday with felony driving while intoxicated with a child in the car — Leandra’s Law. The woman had a nine-year-old passenger in the car.

According to police, Beverly Johnson was stopped around 7:45 a.m. Thursday at Eggert Road and Gail Avenue after a license plate reader alerted the officer that the car’s registration was suspended. License plate readers are attached to the outside of police vehicles.

During the traffic stop, police say Johnson was found to be impaired by the combination of alcohol and prescription drugs. Her charges include felony aggravated DWI: with a child passenger less than 16, driving while intoxicated, DWAI combined influence of drugs or alcohol/drugs, criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal impersonation of another person, Acting in a manner injurious to a child less than 17 and several vehicle and traffic Infractions
