BUFFALO — A 25-year-old Buffalo man was sentenced to 23 year in prison Thursday for a shooting that left one man dead in a 2015 shooting at a Buffalo barbership.

Luis Oliveras-Arvelo a/k/a “Chino,” pleaded guilty in April to first-degree manslaughter charges in connection with the death of 29-year-old Juan Santiago, according to According to Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Flaherty.

On Sept. 1, 2015, Oliveras-Arvelo shot to death Santiago inside of a barbershop located at 577 Niagara St. Ten minutes before the shooting, the victim had allegedly threatened the defendant with a machete and the shooting appears to have been in retaliation.
