BUFFALO — A 19-year-old Buffalo man who attempted to flee Northwest District officers on a motorized scooter found himself the recipient of several vehicle and traffic tickets, as well as charges for evading the police and unlicensed operation, according to BPD.

It all started early Thursday morning when police attempted to stop Denzel Maye near Ontario and Saratoga streets for riding the scooter without plates, inspection or wearing a helmet or safety glasses. That’s when police say Maye attempted to flee officers by traveling the wrong way down several streets before he was apprehended in the first block of Progressive Avenue.

Maye is charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer, operating a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver, reckless driving and “several vehicle and traffic infractions.”
