PORTER — A 17-year-old Ransomville boy and his purported 14-year-old accomplice are facing criminal charges after being arrested Wednesday by the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Niagara County Sheriff Jim Voutour, Matthew R. Zaifert, 17, was charged with second-degree burglary and petit larceny following a reported reported burglary-in-progress call on Ransomville Road Wednesday evening.

Zaifert and a 14-year-old juvenile male are accused of burglarizing a private residence by forcing a screen window and stealing $300.

Zaifert was arraigned in Town of Porter Court and bail was set at $5,000/$10,000. The juvenile was released to a parent and is facing potential charges in Family Court.
