Former Niagara County Republican Party Chairman Henry Wojtaszek will take the role of president and CEO of the Western Regional OTB, the corporation announced today, succeeding Michael D. Kane, who announced his retirement last year..

Western Regional OTB, which is run by a board of directors comprised of one member from each of the 15 regional counties and two major cities — Buffalo and Rochester — announced in September that they were looking for someone to fill the president and CEO position. WROTB has 27 branches across western New York.

At the time, there were rumors that the position was being vacated in order to be filled by former State Sen. George D. Maziarz, but Kane poo-pooed that rumor as quickly as it started.

“I can only tell you that I do not have a resume from Senator Maziarz,” Kane said on Sept. 8.

Kane had been at Western OTB for 20 years and served as its president for the last six. Wojtaszek has served as OTB’s general counsel and before that was an attorney at Harris Beach, Niagara County GOP chairman, and candidate for congress.

Another Niagara County man, Scott Kiedrowski, will take the position of OTB’s vice president of operations. Keidrowksi is chief of staff to State Sen. Rob Ortt and is the current Niagara County GOP chairman.

Michael Nolan, currently executive vice president, will serve as chief operation officer.
