BUFFALO — A 72-year-old Lackawanna man has been sentenced to 2 1/3 – 7 years in state prison following his fourth — and fifth — DWI conviction over the past 15 years.

According to Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Flaherty, Jr., Carl Mayeski pleaded guilty to two counts of felony driving while intoxicated and two counts of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Mayeski had pleaded guilty to the first DWI charge and was awaiting sentencing when he was arrested again for DWI.

Mayeski also had three prior DWI convictions in the past 15 years and a criminal history that stretches back to the 1950s, according to Flaherty’s office.
