As summer season officially kicks off around the area, Olcott Beach is no exception, with a full slate of events this weekend.

The Lakeview Village Shoppes says it best in their Facebook post: “It’s going to be an awesome weekend in Olcott! Shopping, Farmer’s Market, Wine Tasting, Live Music on the boardwalk, Carousel Park opening, Super Car Cruise, Memorial Day Outdoor Concert and FUN!”

The Shoppes’ first “Music, Market and Wine” of the season opens at 4 p.m. Friday with free tasting from Niagara Wine Trail wineries, live music on the Boardwalk, the Farmer’s Market and — of course — the vast variety of wares offered up by the Shoppes themselves. The event occurs from 4 – 7 p.m. every Friday throughout the summer.

The Olcott Beach Carousel Park opens at noon Saturday for the holiday weekend. Featuring the Herschell Carousel and other Herschell rides, vintage arcade games at 25-cents a piece, and the Kiddy Ferris wheel originally from the legendary Whistle Pig in the Falls, the Park also features a magic show each day at 2 p.m.

Olcott’s historic Main Street is the site of the Super Sunday Car Cruise at 1 p.m. Sunday. All kinds of free fun for the family: free admission, free parking. And for car enthusiasts, there is no entry fee and free dash plaques for the first 100 cars participating. Sponsored by Olcott Beach Community Association & area businesses, call (716) 778-7767 for more information.

Following the Memorial Day Observance at Corwin Cemetery at 11 a.m. Monday, Mark Mazur and his Little Big Band take the stage at Olcott’s Gazebo at 2 p.m. The Gazebo, located on Main Street in Olcott, next to the Olcott Beach Carousel Park, is the site of the Olcott Summer Concert Series. The free event also features free parking.
