LOCKPORT — The Kenan Center will present its 46th annual juried show of contemporary craft art, 100 American Craftsmen, June 3 – 5.

One of the most noted craft shows in the region, 100 American Craftsmen is dedicated to presenting original and contemporary craft art, benefitting the Kenan Center, a regional community center offering arts, education and recreation programs located at 195 Beattie Ave.

Show hours are 6-9 p.m. June 3, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. June 4 and 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. June 5. Admission at the door is $6; students and military families are half price with ID.

Artisans participating primarily come from north eastern United States and Mid-Atlantic, with some coming from as far as Texas and California. Six of this year’s artisans are pre-accepted as previous Master Craftsmen and Best of Show awardees. Master Craftsmen are: Jim and Pat Reno, clay; Sally Danforth, clay; and Andrea Geer, fiber wearable. Best of Show artisans are: Brian Newton, wood; Melissa Crowell, jewelry; and Joann Vanderheite, Mixed Media. Thirty-two artisans are new to the show this year.

Returning this year is the Annex Marketplace where new and emerging artisans are showcased, as well as work by students from the SUNY Buffalo State Design Department, coordinated by Colleen Toledano, Assistant Professor of Ceramics. Several of the artisans will also be demonstrating their craft-creating process throughout the weekend.

Featured in the Annex Marketplace will be: Richard Alt, mixed media/glass; Pamela Beaney, chain maille jewelry; Daniel Dorociak, mixed media; Jessica Goodenbury; jewelry; Russell Halstead, clay; Pamela Harris, mixed media/paper; Joshua Fraass, mixed media/paper; Kim L’Heureux, clay; Danielle Myers, handmade paper; Suzanne O’Brien, fiber; and Holly Ruby, glass. For the first time, patrons will be able to select a People’s Choice award which will be presented to one of the Annex Marketplace artisans.

In addition to the craft artisans, visitors can enjoy live music throughout the weekend, an indoor café, specialty food vendors, a wine booth, quilt raffle, and Herbal Plant Sale (from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday). Unique to the show is a raffle to win one of dozens of craft items donated by the attending craft artisans. Each patron receives a raffle ticket upon entry.

Visitors are also invited to visit the Kenan Center House Gallery, located in the 1850s Kenan House, which will feature the exhibit, METACORPORATE: ART FROM INDUSTRY on from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. There is no additional cost to visit the gallery.
